October 11-13

This Thursday, October 13th we will be visiting the Pumpkin Maze next door at Green's Plants and Produce. Please bring $2.00 by Wednesday to purchase a pumpkin to decorate. We will also observe all of the different kinds of pumpkins and gourds that they are selling.
In Bible we will read what Noah's Ark was really like. The children will learn that the Ark was six times longer than it was wide. We will read how the Ark was the most stable floating platform ever built. We will finish reading and narrating The Story of Noah's Ark by Tom Dooley. This week we will read about how Noah sent a raven and a dove out and the dove was the only bird that came back. We will learn that the dove came back with an olive leaf the second time and how that was a good sign.
We will be talking about how every sentence should begin with a capital letter and that a period should be placed after every complete statement. Some of the children will be writing statements telling where the sun rises and sets.

No education seems to be worth the name which has not made children at home in the world of books, and so related them, mind to mind, with thinkers who have dealt with knowledge. — Charlotte Mason
