Nov. 15-18

The children enjoyed showing their seeds that they brought from home during circle time. We will be observing the fall leaves and collecting them outside. Students may bring fall leaves that are interesting in color to show during circle time on Thursday.
In Music we will be singing “Sailing on the Mayflower”. For Creative Movement the children will also be practicing an Indian Rain Dance.
In Social Studies we will be painting and gluing corn to display with the Indians that the children made last week. We will be making Indian hats with feathers to wear at our Thanksgiving Feast on Thursday. We will also be making placemats to eat on at the feast and bear claw necklaces to wear.
We will be having our Thanksgiving Feast this Thursday at 11:30 with Mrs. Camp’s class. Please be sure to sign up to bring something for the feast. The sign up sheet is posted in the hallway.
Please be sure to turn in your field trip permission slip and money by Thursday for admission to the Polar Express Omni Theatre on Dec. 9. Kids admission is $6 and adults are $7.

Nov. 8-11

Some of the students enjoyed sharing their seed during circle time. The children got to observe what a cottonseed looks like. The children enjoyed labeling the different parts of a seed. If you have not brought a seed to share with the class in circle please bring one b y Thursday. You may choose to bring a seed from a fruit, vegetable, or flower.
In Bible we will be reading about Noah’s Ark and how Noah was told to build an ark. We will talk about how people decided not to follow God. We will begin copying the scripture for dictation.
We will be going to the Omni Theatre to see “The Polar Express” at the Fort Worth Science Museum on Thursday, December 9th. The show starts at 10:00.Please turn in the money by Monday to Mrs. Hague so we can confirm our reservation. Be sure and let us know if you will be attending the Field Trip with your child.
Please be sure to send a snack for snack time and put it in the basket by the front door each morning. If your child wants to bring a water bottle they may put it next to their supply box on the table.

Nov. 1-4

Special thanks to all the parents who helped with the Fall Festival and Fall Party. The children loved decorating pumpkins, fishing for treasure, and eating special treats. They also enjoyed sliding and bouncing in the bounce house.
In Social Studies we will be reading The Gift of the Sacred Dog. The story is about how the Plains tribes were given the gift of horses to help them move faster and farther so the tribe could find buffalo. The children will also be learning about the geography of the plains and make their own book to take home.
The children have been learning about seeds and how they travel. We have been collecting seeds from the flowers in the garden. Each child will also be labeling the different parts of a seed. On Thursday we will be having show and tell with different kinds of seeds. The children may bring one seed to share with the class such as seeds that come from fruits, vegetables, plants, etc...
In Music we will begin to learn and practice Thanksgiving songs. The children will learn “Land of the Silver Birch”, Over the River and Through the Woods”, “My Work is Never Done”, “The Pilgrims Come to America”, and “The Turkey is a Funny Bird”.
Please be sure to send a jacket to wear on the playground in case it gets chilly outside.
Students need to remember to bring their folder to school each day as well as a snack to put in the basket by the classroom door each morning.

Oct. 25-28

We will be reading The Biggest Pumpkin Ever. Some of the children will be narrating parts of the story through drawings/writing. The children will also glue seeds they took out of a pumpkin last week and take home some of the seeds to plant in the Spring.

In Bible the children will be working on finding the hidden pictures God made that are around Adam and Eve such as the giraffe, lion, and birds. Some of the children have been working really hard at copying Genesis 2:7 for dictation. Others will be working on illustrating a picture to go along with the given scripture.
