Special thanks to all the parents who helped with the Fall Festival and Fall Party. The children loved decorating pumpkins, fishing for treasure, and eating special treats. They also enjoyed sliding and bouncing in the bounce house.
In Social Studies we will be reading The Gift of the Sacred Dog. The story is about how the Plains tribes were given the gift of horses to help them move faster and farther so the tribe could find buffalo. The children will also be learning about the geography of the plains and make their own book to take home.
The children have been learning about seeds and how they travel. We have been collecting seeds from the flowers in the garden. Each child will also be labeling the different parts of a seed. On Thursday we will be having show and tell with different kinds of seeds. The children may bring one seed to share with the class such as seeds that come from fruits, vegetables, plants, etc...
In Music we will begin to learn and practice Thanksgiving songs. The children will learn “Land of the Silver Birch”, Over the River and Through the Woods”, “My Work is Never Done”, “The Pilgrims Come to America”, and “The Turkey is a Funny Bird”.
Please be sure to send a jacket to wear on the playground in case it gets chilly outside.
Students need to remember to bring their folder to school each day as well as a snack to put in the basket by the classroom door each morning.

- No education seems to be worth the name which has not made children at home in the world of books, and so related them, mind to mind, with thinkers who have dealt with knowledge. — Charlotte Mason
