In History will read about the city and country life of Ancient Rome. The children will learn about the Colosseum and create a Colosseum Zoetrope.
The children will be planting broccoli and lettuce plants into the garden. We will also plant beet seeds. They will be observe and paint a Morning Glory. They will also press the flower and leaves for their nature journals.
In Science we are learning about Non-Vascular plants and will do an experiment to demonstrate how they absorb water. We will also observe moss.
In Bible the children will color the story about Jesus being baptized and learn about how Jesus visited the Temple.
September 10-13
Thanks to Ray’s grandmother, Barbara, for baking the eggplant that we harvested from our garden last week.
In Science this week we will be learning about vascular plants and the children will be observing the parts of a leaf such as the vein and midrib. The children will be creating leaf rubbings and pressing leaves for our nature journals.
In Poetry we will begin learning the “Hayloft” poem by Robert Louis Stevenson.
In History we will be making our own mosaics and reading about the home life and education from the Ancient Rome book.

We will read and narrate “Androcles and the Lion” by Tom Paxton.
In Bible we will read about John the Baptist, Gabriel visiting Mary, and the birth of Jesus. The children will be making their own coloring books.
In the garden will be using magnifying glasses to examine the flowers and plants in our gardens. The children will also water the garden with watering cans.
In Social Studies we will be reading about the Roman Empire and coloring Rome on our own maps.
In Music the children will sing and march to “The Ants Go Marching”.
In Bible we will read about John the Baptist, Gabriel visiting Mary, and the birth of Jesus. The children will be making their own coloring books.
