Our Christmas Party will be this Thursday, December 6th at 3:00 pm. We will be decorating gingerbread man cookies.
We will be visiting the santa store on Wednesday morning. The children may bring money in the envelope sent home last week to buy presents for their family. Please mark who they are to buy for and how much on the front of the envelope.
We will be coloring Nutracker ornaments, decorating Christmas tree picture frame ornaments out of felt, and making gingerbread foam ornaments this week. The children will also make Christmas cards to take home.
The children enjoyed listening to The Polar Express on CD while looking at the illustrations.
The children will be sketching the poinsettia for the nature journals.
November 26-29
In Bible we will read about how Jesus taught at the Feast of the Tabernacles (Luke 23), and how he walked on water (Matthew 14). We will read from Matthew 13 about the Fishermen and the Net.
In History we will learn about Kwanzaa (Africa), and read excerpts from It’s Kwanzaa Time. The children will create a book about Kwanzaa and decorate a Menorah. We will sing “Eight Little Candles”, march with the Menorah, and spin our little Dreidels together.
In Science we will learn about Carniverous plants as we read about the Venus Flytrap, the Bladderwort, the Pitcher Plant, and the Sundew in Exploring Creation. The children will create a sketch of a Chrysanthemum Pacificum for their Nature Journals.

November 12-15
Our Thanksgiving Feast will be this Thursday, November 15, and grandparents are invited to attend and eat with us. Dr. Flint will speak to the grandparents at 11:00, and the children will perform about 11:30. We will be decorating placemats for the feast and picture frames to give to our grandparents. In Science we will be reading “Flower Families” and coloring the parts of the flower. We will visit the Nature Room and read about turtles. The children will be planting Chrysanthemums into the garden.
November 5-8
The children enjoyed observing the pumpkin vine in the garden last week. They also had fun getting pumpkin seeds out of the pumpkin we cut open and examined. We will be picking peppers from our garden.
In Science will be learning the parts of the flower and practice putting together the Montessori parts of the flower puzzle in Science Center.
In Bible will read, “Jesus Fed the Five Thousand”. We are also practicing the names of the 12 disciples during circle time.
In History we will read “The Pilgrims” from If You Sailed on the Mayflower in 1620. We will also practice our songs of thanksgiving together.

Our Fall Festival is this Saturday, October 27th. Thanks to all of the parents who brought items for our raffle basket. There will be a prize for the best medieval costume.
Our Fall Party will be next Wednesday, October 31st. The children may dress up as a medieval theme.
In Science we will be learning about monocots and dicots. The children will be looking for flowers with 5 and 6 petals in our garden.
In History we will be listening to chapter 2 of Robin Hood from our CD that goes along with our book.
In Music the children will be acting out “Five Brave Knights” to music.
Our Fall Party will be next Wednesday, October 31st. The children may dress up as a medieval theme.

We will be going to Green Meadows Farm on Thursday. We will leave school at 9:30. Please meet at school at 9:15. Bring a sack lunch to eat at the farm and a water bottle. Be sure and wear tennis shoes. Please read the attached sheets for safety rules and a list of things that you need to bring.
In Bible we will be reading “A Blind Man sees again” from the Bible in Pictures and coloring a book about “The Good Samaritan”.
In History we will be reading from The Story of the World about Alfred the Great and Robin Hood. The children will be coloring their own Alfred the Great and Robin Hood from the book.
