April 4-7
We will be taking a field trip to Veterans Park next Wednesday, April 13th. We will leave at 9:30. The children will be going on an exploration through nature trails. We will play on the playground and eat lunch at the picnic tables. Please send a sack lunch and a water bottle. The children need to wear tennis shoes since we will be walking on the trails. In Science we will be reading about the aluminum recycling process. The children will learn where we can find pollution such as in the street, air, water, and by the road. In dictation we will be reading and copying from Matthew 5:14. “You are the light of the world”. The Texas Field Day has been changed to Thursday, April 28th. More information will be coming soon. We're planning lots of fun for the summer. Please turn in your registration form asap so that we will know how many to plan for when ordering crafts and making reservations for field trips.
March 28-31
In Social Studies we will begin learning about Texas and read about Austin and how the State Capital Building is a place where the state congress meets to debate the laws. In Bible the children will be making their own book about Jesus choosing his disciples. We will read the story from Luke 5:1 and talk about who the disciples were in the Bible. In Science we will be reading about the process of recycling paper and sorting the correct items that belong in the paper category. The children will be painting "The Musical Fisherman". We will read the fable and talk about how the moral of the story is that some people never do the predictable thing. Every child is required to wear tennis shoes or sandals to school each day. Please do not wear flip-flops to school. Wearing closed toe shoes are important for safety on the playground.
March 21-24
In Science we will begin learning about the many ways that people can recycle their garbage. We will talk about how everyone can recycle at home or bring things to recycle at school. In Bible we will be copying Psalm 46:10 “Be Still and know that I am God”. The children will be cutting and pasting the sentence and coloring the illustration to go along with the scripture. In Math some of the students will begin working on multiplying numbers by 2’s (Ex. 2x3, 2x4). Please be practicing these at home. Others will continue working on adding, subtracting, and telling time. In Language some of the students will be reviewing contractions. Other students will be working on their Primary Phonics Workbooks. In Spelling some of the children will be reviewing the “oi” and “oy” sound. Other students will be practicing long “i” silent e words.
