September 19-22

The children will be making their own cartouche using hieroglyphic symbols. A cartouche is a kind of nameplate that the Ancient Egyptians used for kings, queens, and other people in the kingdom. We will be reading Fun with Hieroglyphs by Catherine Roehrig. This rhyming book will teach symbols from A to Z as well as words and what they meant to the Egyptians.
We will begin learning to recite "The Moon" by Robert Louis Stevenson. A copy of the poem will be sent in their folders to practice at home.
Our Field Trip to River Legacy Science Center will be next Monday, September 26th. We will meet at the school at 8:50 and depart at 9:00. We will eat our lunches at the school when we get back from the field trip. Please bring the permission slip for the field trip to River Legacy Science Center by this Wednesday, September 21st. Be sure to turn in the $12.00 admission fee to Mrs. Hague. Let us know if you will be attending the field trip with your child.

No education seems to be worth the name which has not made children at home in the world of books, and so related them, mind to mind, with thinkers who have dealt with knowledge. — Charlotte Mason
