In Music we will be marching with instruments to “People in our Neighborhood”. We will also practice singing Days 1-4 of the “Creation” song.
The children will be planting broccoli and beets in to our class garden this week. We will also be labeling the different parts of a tree.
In Social Studies we will be learning about the Compass Rose. The children will be labeling North, South, East and West on the Compass.
We will be reading about what it is like to be a chef. We will also be learning the different kinds of chefs such as Pastry Chefs, Sous Chefs, and Executive Chefs.
Please remember to bring your folder to school each day. We will be learning 1 dolch word each week. Please be sure to practice the flashcards at home each evening with your child.
This Thursday, September 23 is our school fundraiser at Barnes and Noble bookstore by the Park’s Mall. The children have been working very hard on creating their own drawings. They will be displayed and for sale at the bookstore for each parent to buy to raise money for the school (see flyer attached).
Sept. 13-16
In Art the children will create paper dolls to represent themselves and practice the song, “The More We Get Together”.
In Social Studies this week we have been talking about the different tools that workers use in their jobs such as an Artist needs paint and a paintbrush and an Auto Mechanic needs to have wrenches and oil. We will also be reading about how we get our cloth and how we get our clothing.
In Science we will be collecting leaves since it was too rainy to collect them last week. We will also be learning the names of different kind of leaves and coloring each leaf with our map pencils.
The children will be planting Lettuce Seeds in the garden. We will also observe the other plants in the garden and read a book about how and why seeds travel.
Sturdy shoes for running and climbing on the playground are the best for wearing to school each day (no flip-flops, please).

In Bible we will be reading about how God created the heavens and the earth. The students will be making their own In the Beginning book.
