May 4-6

The children have been doing really well learning the poem, "Where Go the Boats" by Robert Louis Stevenson using motions. This week we will begin learning the third stanza.
In Social Studies we will be reading Our Texas while learning about the Lone Star State's history and sites of the Texas Revolution. We will also learn that the State Dish is Texas Chili.
The children have enjoyed learning about air and water. We will begin to learn about things that move on land such as cars, trucks, trains, bikes etc. This week we will read about different kinds of motor sports cars. We will als begin learning about the sense of taste. The children will be sorting foods that are sweet and sour using a Venn Diagram.
In Math some of the students will be working on writing and counting numbers 16 and 17. Other students will be working on geometric shapes and using greater than, less than, and equal signs.
In Music the children will use instruments to the song "The Red Car". In Creative Movement we will learn new movements with the parachute. The children will learn to do the "Snap" movement and the "Flip Flop" motion.
