May 11

This week we will be practicing how to write and sound out words that begin with the letter “q”. We are almost finished with our last Explode the Code workbook. The children have done such an awesome job on all 3 books. Last week we finished practicing the Tom and Jip story. We will
be starting a new story called Ted and Kip.
In Math we will be reviewing what one-half means. We will also practice counting numbers up to 100.
We will learn about our sense of Taste this week. I have attached a Ziploc bag to return with something sweet, salty, bitter, or sour to taste and share with the other children (11 children). Please send it for our tasting party on Thursday.
The children are doing a great job learning the poem about “The Stork”. A new poem will be sent home on Thursday about “ The Woodpecker” to practice over the weekend.
In Music we will pretend to be Storks as we move to Mozart’s Piano Sonata No. 11 in A major.
We will be making a team shirt for field day next week. Please send $5 for the shirt and supplies by the end of the week.

No education seems to be worth the name which has not made children at home in the world of books, and so related them, mind to mind, with thinkers who have dealt with knowledge. — Charlotte Mason
